Sara Ramirez
Sara Ramirez has been a Mexican American performer, actress, and songwriter for many years. Sara Ramirez was raised by an American mother, and was subjected to a variety of racist taunts that led her to feel unwelcome. The confidence started to build in the ninth grade when she appeared in an audition and was highly praised for her performance. This not only increased her confidence but also shifted the direction she wanted to go in her career. When she was 22, she graduated from New York's Julliard School. In 1993 she had her Broadway debut with Paul Simon's The Capeman. Her first film was titled You've got Mail. But her biggest break came when she appeared in the role in the role of The Lady of The Lake in the first Broadway show Spamalot garnering not only the Tony Award for her performance as well as a lot of critical praise. The following year, she appeared as Callie Torres on Grey's Anatomy for ABC, she gained greater recognition. As a well-known singer, she has also released both an album and a musical. In addition, she's an activist who is active for LGBT rights.
